83 OLLU student-athletes recognized in conference GPA awards

The Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) announced its GPA Awards for 2013-2014. The awards recognize schools and student-athletes who excelled in the classroom throughout the academic year. Schools submitted the cumulative grade-point average of all student-athletes competing in RRAC-sanctioned sports for the most recent year.

A total of 90 student-athletes from OLLU has been recognized as scholar athletes. This year’s 90 becomes a new best for the University topping the 82 that were recognized in 2012-2013. When OLLU joined the conference in 2009, 55 student-athletes were recognized followed by 52 in 2010-2011 and 49 in 2011-2012.

This year, 83 received the academic accolade from the conference. Included in the list are seven additional student-athletes from the men’s and women’s tennis teams – tennis is not an RRAC-sanctioned sport, but is in the NAIA-unaffiliated category.

Overall, the University submitted a 3.03 GPA for its 152 student-athletes. The Saints’ women’s cross-country and women’s tennis teams received the highest overall GPA at 3.37.
