Professor Cuba’s novel wins PEN Texas award

Nan Cuba, MFA, associate professor of English, is the 2013 PEN Southwest book awards winner in the fiction category for her novel, “Body and Bread.”

Released in May 2013, “Body and Bread” tells the story of an anthropologist who, years after her brother commits suicide, digs into the secrets he left behind. It uncovers the power of family legacies while exploring lifelong feelings of losing a loved one.

Cuba’s novel was also named in the May edition of “O, The Oprah Magazine,” as one of the “Ten Titles to Pick Up Now.”
