Known as one of Mexico’s most fearless investigative reporters, Cacho has dedicated her career and voice to uncovering the stories of the global sex trade, organized crime and other violations of human rights. Her work has led to repeated threats against her life and even a brief imprisonment believed to be in revenge for the publishing of her book, “Los Demonios del Eden” (Demons of Eden), which was based on her research of child pornography among Mexican politicians and businessmen. As a result of the imprisonment, she successfully filed a counter-suit for corruption and violation of human rights. This made Cacho the first woman in Mexican history to file a federal suit against a governor, district attorney and judge.
