As of Nov. 3, 160 OLLU employees have submitted donations to support the United Way. This represents 40 percent of OLLU’s full time employees. OLLU is striving to be No.1 in employee participation amongst San Antonio Higher Education Workplace Campaigns, so all employees are asked to contribute. United Way supports 69 partnering agencies and 137 programs in San Antonio, which support children, families, and the San Antonio community. In 2016, United Ways efforts directly touched the lives of 86 of OLLU’s employees.
One of the added incentives to contribute to OLLU’s United Way effort this year was to be included in a drawing for a reserved parking space for the month of January by making a $20 minimum donation by Friday, Nov 3. The drawing for three parking spaces was held this morning. Congratulations to the winners:
- Dr. Steve Blanchard, Professor of Sociology
- Dr. Jerrie Jackson, Professor of Education
- Christina Ramirez, Budget Accountant
Learn more about United Way services by attending the Staff Organization meeting, Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in Providence Hall, West Social Room. Michael Chapman with United Way Mission United and 2-1-1 programs will be sharing how United Way agencies and programs benefit the San Antonio and Bexar County residents. Breakfast tacos are being provided by the President’s Office and a special prize drawing will be held for all who attend the meeting who have made a United Way donation.
For those who have not yet donated, there is still time. The campaign ends on Nov. 17.
Tuesday, Nov. 14, has been declared United Way Day at OLLU. Employees are asked to submit their donations prior to this day. Those who donate before Nov. 14 will be given a United Way pin. Employees and are asked to wear their pins that day.
Since United Way Day coincides with the staff and faculty Thanksgiving Luncheon, all who have contributed to United Way will be included in prize drawings for showing their support for OLLU’s philanthropic effort. Based on the enthusiastic response to the January reserved parking incentive, two additional reserved spaces have been negotiated. At the Thanksgiving Luncheon, there will be another drawing for the additional two parking spaces. All individuals who have donated a minimum of $20 will be eligible for the drawing.
Reminder: donors can designate to have funds for the general United Way fund or utilize the option to have funds designated for a specific United Way agency or program by entering the code on your pledge form.
