Marcela Polanco, PhD, associate professor of psychology, has received the Michael White Legacy Award from the Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapists. This is the first time the award has been presented.
When reviewing nominations for the award, the committee considered candidates who demonstrated the following qualities:
- A clinician or student who embraces the practice of narrative therapy
- A clinician or student who exemplifies the ideas of postmodern thinking in clinical work and practice
- A clinician or student who addresses the ideas of social justice and the effects of discord in society, and who strives to address such discord through community or clinical work.
