Honoring Alonso S. Perales: A Night with Dr. Cynthia E. Orozco & Student Exhibits

Join the Sueltenfuss Library as we welcome renowned historian/author Dr. Cynthia E. Orozco on Thursday, March 20th  from 6:00pm–7:30pm, for a special reception and keynote address, “Mexican American Civil Rights Leader of San Antonio: 1930-1960”.   

Visit our 3rd floor loft to view the exhibit, “Alonso S. Perales: Civil Rights Trailblazer” by Mexican American Civil Rights Institute (MACRI) to learn more about Perales’ lifelong dedication to civil rights, social justice, and educational access.  Following the keynote address on the 2nd floor, Orozco will be signing copies of her biography on Perales.

Alongside MACRI’s exhibit, the Sueltenfuss Library also presents exciting student work: 

“Legacy in Motion: Creatively Reinterpreting Alonso S. Perales for a New Generation.”  Curated by the library, this showcase features historical photographs alongside creative projects developed by OLLU students reflecting on Perales’ impact on Mexican American civil rights. Highlights include:
