Raised on the West Side of San Antonio, Escobar now works in the White House as a senior policy director for immigration. During the event, she will participate in a student-led interview and provide an inspiration message to students. A panel discussion on the current state of immigration in the United States will follow. Panelists include, Elaine Ayala from the San Antonio Express-News; Ezequiel Peña, PhD, director of the Center for Mexican American Studies and Research; Aimee Villarreal, PhD, Mexican American Studies professor; and Jonathan Ryan, JD, executive director of the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES).
A reception will follow in the Mall Area.
