Dr. Kubena named to San Antonio Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list

jiletta-kubena-smallJiletta Kubena, PhD, assistant professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice, and alumnus Kirk D. Mask of Williams, Crow, Mask LLP, have been named to the San Antonio Business Journal’s 2016 40 Under 40 list.

The awards recognize individuals under 40 years old who are rising stars in the community.

In addition to her position as assistant professor, Kubena also serves as the department chair for the Criminology and Criminal Justice department. Her background includes working with both state and federal law enforcement agencies. She also held positions in juvenile crime prevention organizations and as a licensed private investigator. She is currently working with local, federal and private community correction agencies on issues facing formerly incarcerated offenders re-entering society.

Mask graduated from OLLU in 2004 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Accounting. He is a partner at Williams, Crow, Mask, LLP, an accounting and investment firm.

Kubena and Mask will receive their awards in February.

OLLU only undefeated team in RRAC WBB after win against Langston

After trailing in the first quarter, the OLLU women’s basketball team – led by bench players – defeated Langston University (LU) 75-63 on Saturday

The win for the NAIA’s No. 6 Saints against the No. 17 Lions keeps the Saints as the only remaining undefeated team in the Red River Athletic Conference with a 4-0 record and 12-2 overall. Langston drops to 5-1 in conference and 9-3 overall. Read full story at ollusaintsathletics.com.

OLLU is best-ever No. 6 in latest NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll

OLLU women’s basketball has moved up four spots to No. 6 from No. 10 in the second NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Jan. 5. This marks the best ranking ever for the Saints.

Ranked on top is Westmont (Calif.). The third regular-season edition of the poll will be released on Jan. 12.

In the Red River Athletic Conference released on Jan. 4, OLLU (2-0/10-2) holds on to its No. 1 ranking, followed by No. 2 Langston (4-0/6-2), No. 3 Wiley (3-1/9-1) and No. 4s LSU-Shreveport (1-3/6-4) and Huston-Tillotson (2-0/6-2).

The only other Red River team included in the Top 25 Poll is Langston, which jumped from No. 18 to No. 17. Read full story at ollusaintsathletics.com.
