OLLU staff, faculty and students are invited to attend the ribbon cutting for the new Z-Crossing on Wednesday at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the location of the Z-Crossing on West Commerce Street in front of AutoZone. District 5 Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales will be in attendance.
The Z-Crossing is a new engineering component that is part of Vision Zero, a global initiative that seeks to achieve zero fatalities on roadways. The crosswalk is equipped with solar powered blinking warning signs and rapid flashing lights. The purpose of the lights is to draw more attention to motorists by letting them know that there is a person crossing the street. For more information on Z-Crossings, click here.
