Free Sandra Cisneros reading Wednesday at 7 p.m.

sandra-cisneros-2016Critically acclaimed poet, short story writer, novelist and essayist, Sandra Cisneros, will hold a reading at OLLU, Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. in Thiry Auditorium.

Cisneros received the National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama at a White House ceremony on Sept. 22. She also received the Pen Center USA Literary Arts Award for 2016 in the creative nonfiction category for her memoir, “A House of My Own,” among numerous other awards. She previously served as OLLU’s Writer in Residence.

Cisneros’ book, “The House on Mango Street,” has sold more than five million copies, has been translated into more than 20 languages, and is required reading in elementary, high school and university curricula across the United States.

The reading is free and open to the public.
