Ranked first nationally last year heading into the NAIA national tournament, OLLU received the top selection in the 2016-2017 Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Preseason Poll. OLLU has won or shared the conference title for the last four seasons, and the Saints received nine of 10 first-place votes this year. OLLU finished 18-0 in conference play and 30-3 overall last year, but the Saints lost two all-conference selections — Taylor Hamilton and Sonji Green. Head Coach Christopher Minner will build around RRAC second-team all-conference selection Alyssa Ward, Whitney Sandmann, Nakia Page and Julia Rendon.
