Men’s tennis wins conference title, earns berth to nationals

Men’s tennis dominated Texas A&M University – Texarkana at the NAIA Unaffiliated Group/Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Championship to capture its second consecutive title. The Saints won 5-0 and will get set for the first round of the NAIA National Championship Tournament that will take place at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., on May 16. OLLU’s No. 1 pair Mathias Rocha and Bernardo Pegas defeated Sammy Hogan and Cole Guy of TAMUT 8-4. No. 2’s Warren Fulgenzi and Ross Marzetti defeated Thomas van der Velden and Daniel Collinsworth 8-4. And, No. 3’s Jacob Galaviz and Pablo Cavazos defeated Charlie Scott and Kendall Murray 8-3. Fulgenzi beat Scott 6-1 and 6-1, while Galaviz defeated Christopher Armstead 6-0 and 6-1 to give the Saints the 5-0 win. Fulgenzi and Pegas earned First-Team All-Tournament and Rocha and Galaviz earned Second-Team All-Tournament.
