Celestin Grabs 19 Rebounds as Saints Cruise Past Stallions

The Our Lady of the Lake (OLLU) men’s basketball team got back in the win column on Tuesday evening as they defeated North American University (NAU) by a score of 81-64 inside Mabee Gymnasium.

Arthur Celestin was dominant on the glass as he pulled down the second-most total rebounds in a single game with 19 and tied the record for offensive rebounds in a game with nine. 

Four Saints scored in double figures led by Trey Law who finished with 16 points. 

The Saints and Stallions played a tight contest for the first 12 minutes of the game. With 7:30 left to play in the half and the Stallions in front 21-16, OLLU went on a 12-0 run to take command of the game. In total, a 17-5 run by the Saints to close out the half gave OLLU a 33-26 lead heading into the break.

Law finished the first half with 10 points on a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free throw line.

Three minutes into the second half, Law gave OLLU its first double-digit lead at 40-28 after knocking down a three off the assist from Rob Gil. The Stallions tried to hang around, cutting their lead down to nine points with 11:05 left to play but OLLU put their foot on the gas and continued to build on their lead. A pair of free throws from Kenyon Elliot with just over two minutes on the clock gave OLLU a 21-point lead, its largest of the game. Elliot finished the night with 11 points off the bench for the Saints, all coming in the second half.

  • Breion Powell added 12 points.
  • OLLU shot 22-of-29 from the free throw line.
