Viatorum Day-Residency on April 16

Part new music ensemble; part world-classical chamber collective: Viatorum share a passion for music that grooves, uplifts, moves the spirit, and unites. Imagine a jam session swirling in Middle Eastern modes, Western counterpoint, driving rhythms, and vibrant flair—and you will begin to understand the musical ambition of Viatorum.


Event 1 – Viatorum – The Music of Türkiye

The International Folk Culture Center (IFCC) in collaboration with the Music Program cordially invite you to attend the Viatorum Day-Residency Program on Wednesday, April 16th.

Please join us for a lecture/demonstration “The Music of Türkiye: Rhythms and Instruments” by Berk Agar – Guitarist, Educator, and Author at 1:45pm in the MARC Ballroom.

This event is free and open to the public. Students are especially encouraged to attend!


Event 2: Viatorum – From “There” to “Hear”

The International Folk Culture Center (IFCC) in collaboration with the Music Program cordially invite you to attend the Viatorum Day-Residency Program on Wednesday, April 16th.

Please join us for a pre-concert presentation “From ‘There’ to ‘Hear:’ A Western Musician’s Journey to Love and Learn Middle Eastern Music” by Ethan Wickman, Artistic Director of Viatorum at 5:30pm in the MARC Ballroom.

This event is free and open to the public.


Viatorum – Prisms of the Bosporus

The International Folk Culture Center (IFCC) in collaboration with the Music Program cordially invite you to attend the Viatorum Day-Residency Program on Wednesday, April 16th.

Please join us for a concert performance “Prisms of the Bosporus” by the Viatorum Ensemble at 7:00pm in the MARC Ballroom. This concert is an exploration of music from, and refracted through the lens of, the nexus of East and West, featuring music from Andalusia, Egypt, Iraq, Turkey, and the US. This event is free to OLLU staff, faculty, and students and $10 for community attendees.
