Name the new OLLU newsletter and win a Kindle Fire HD
Today begins the naming contest for the University’s official newsletter (formerly e-Currents). OLLU students, faculty and staff can submit name suggestions for the newsletter. Submissions will be accepted until Sept. 5 at 5 p.m., and final voting will begin Sept. 9. The winner, who will be announced on Sept. 16, will receive a Kindle Fire HD.
This newsletter is the new way that Our Lady of the Lake University will communicate with students, faculty and staff. It is replacing the e-Currents Online Newsletter that many in the OLLU community have been familiar with, but it needs a name, and that is where the OLLU community can help!
Contest Rules:
- Open to all current OLLU students, faculty and staff.
- All submissions must come from a valid OLLU email address.
- Submissions must be made using the form below.
- Unlimited number of submissions by a single person.
- Submissions of the same name will be credited to the person who submitted the name first.
- Incomplete submission forms will not be accepted.
- Nominations close Thursday, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m.
- Voting on finalists will begin Monday, Sept. 9 and close Friday, Sept. 13 at noon.
*Note: Until the new name of the newsletter is decided, correspondence to the OLLU community will still come from the OLLU e-Currents Online Newsletter mailbox. Once the name has been chosen, correspondence to the OLLU community will come from the mailbox that carries the new name. The email address will also be changed.

Archdiocese and Catholic Television of San Antonio donate cameras to Lake Front TV

The Archdiocese and Catholic Television of San Antonio (CTSA) donated two professional digital cameras, tripods, and power supplies last week for the Lake Front TV studio. Dago Patlan of CTSA and Deacon Pat Rodgers, head of communications for the Archdiocese, donated the equipment after they learned of the theft of some of the equipment from the studio. Their donation made it possible for Lake Front TV to continue as planned this semester.
Lake Front TV to introduce new format this semester
Students encouraged to sign up for staff positions
The student-run news station, Lake Front TV, will be changing formats beginning in September. Instead of a five-minute recorded news format, Lake Front TV will now be a 30-minute, live news magazine. The broadcasts will take place on Fridays starting at noon and will be seen on the digital signage screens throughout campus, online and on OLLU’s Show and Share. With the live broadcasts, Lake Front TV will be eligible to compete with other universities from throughout the United States for the College Television Award, sponsored by the Emmys Foundation.
Any OLLU student can be a part of the Lake Front TV staff, even those who are not majoring in mass communications. Students who are interested in being part of the staff should contact Antoinette Winstead at awinstead@lake.ollusa.edu or 210-434-6711, ext. 2257, or Michael Thompson atmgthompson@lake.ollusa.edu or 210-434-6711, ext. 5548.
