OLLU will create first-ever 30-year digital archive of Segundo de Febrero

More than 30 years ago, two Our Lady of the Lake University students organized a commemoration of the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. That commemoration, known as Segundo de Febrero, has been repeated every year in locations across the United States.

OLLU’s Center for Mexican American Studies and Research will recognize these efforts by establishing a digital archive that documents 30 years of commemorating Segundo de Febrero. The archive will be announced during a news conference on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. in Providence Hall, West Social Room.

President Sister Jane Ann Slater and Sister Maria Eva Flores of the Center for Mexican American Studies and Research will accept the digital records during the news conference.

A multimedia presentation and poetry reading will follow the press conference in Providence Hall, Blue Room.
