Women’s basketball ends season after 72-67 loss to Loyola in NAIA ‘Sweet 16’ Round

WBB3-24-1The women’s basketball team staged a valiant effort after trailing by 14 to come within three with 28 seconds left on the clock, but Loyola University New Orleans stayed the course to pull out the 72-67 win to advance to the Elite Eight of the NAIA Women’s Basketball National Championship Tournament. OLLU was eliminated in the second round after winning its first-ever NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball national championship game this year. The Saints end their season with a record of 27-5, while Loyola improves to 23-11. Head Coach Christopher Minner said, “We lost the rebound battle by 23 and we missed 10 free throws in a five-point loss. We can’t win any game playing like that. Nevertheless, it was a great year.
