Softball sweeps Bacone to capture its first-ever Red River Athletic Conference regular season title

The softball team made history Saturday after capturing its first-ever regular season conference title. The Saints swept Bacone College on Friday 7-0 and 3-2, and on Saturday, 13-4 and 3-1 to win the Red River Athletic Conference. The Saints end the conference with an 18-2 record and are at 36-10-1 overall as they prepare for the conference tournament as the No. 1 seed. Before the games on Saturday, the Saints paid homage to three-year seniors Amanda Hinojosa and Ashley Perez, and four-year seniors Julie Ramos and Kimberlee Briseno.
The Saints will head out to Farmers Branch, Texas (near Fort Worth) on Thursday to prepare for the conference tournament that OLLU is hosting. On Friday, May 2, game one will be between No. 1 seed Saints and No. 4 seed Langston at 11 a.m. Game two will be between No. 2 seed Southwest and No. 3 seed Bacone at 1:30 p.m. At 4 p.m., game three will be between the losers of game one and game two. The final game will be at 6:30 p.m. between the winners of game one and game two.
On Saturday, game five will be between the loser of game four and the winner of game three at 10 a.m. The championship game will take place at 12:30 p.m., and if necessary a second championship game will take place at 3 p.m. OLLU will provide live stats for all games.
