Baseball ends inaugural season third in RRAC tournament
It was not the outcome they had anticipated, but the Saints baseball team of Our Lady of the Lake University made history nevertheless with its first-ever Red River Athletic Conference Championship Tournament appearance in its inaugural season. The Saints lost big – 18-1 to LSU-Alexandria in the semifinals game of the 2015 tournament, but the men have nothing to be ashamed of, according to Head Coach Freddy Rodriguez. “This has been a memorable year. I am so proud of how my team played all year. We accomplished a lot of our goals and just fell short of a conference championship. To finish fourth in the regular season and third in the tournament is something we should be proud of. The team made so much history and they have laid down the foundation of our program for the future. Building a tradition of excellence in the classroom and on the field is what we strive for in our program. This team will be known as the first baseball team in the history of Our Lady of the Lake University, and nobody can ever take that away from them.” Read full story online.
