OLLU receives Magic Maker Award

BBBS Magic Maker Award
Jennifer Bendele receives the Big Brothers Big Sister of South Texas Magic Maker Award from San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas recognized OLLU with its Magic Maker Award.

OLLU has been participating in the Inspire U Workplace Program since 2013. The program exposes youth to a professional work environment, with a variety of careers, as well as providing an opportunity for students to have a one-to-one mentor. OLLU employees meet with their Little Brother or Little Sister once per month during their lunch hour. The students are bused from Lanier High School to OLLU and meet with their Big Brother or Big Sister for monthly mentoring, lunch, games, and friendly discussion. Current OLLU Bigs are: Sulema Cabrera, Lizette Yanes-Lew, Agatha Calica, Raquel Moncado, Cristal Lopez, Ana Flores, Elizabeth Mancha, Amy Eickhoff, Marta Noyola, Roxanna Chavez, and Jennifer Bendele.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is seeking more OLLU employees to serve as a Big. Monthly meetings are held on designated Thursdays during the school year, from 12-1 p.m., on the OLLU campus. Contact Jennifer Bendele at JBendele@ollusa.edu for more information.
