After OLLU volleyball kicked off intercollegiate athletics at OLLU nine years ago, the sport has accomplished a major feat – winning its first-ever regular season championship and tournament championship Saturday afternoon. As the No. 1 seed, the Saints defeated the No. 2 seed University of St. Thomas 3-1 to win the Red River Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. The Saints came close to winning the tournament twice since 2007, but both times ended in a second-place finish. Head Coach Jeremiah Tiffin said, “What a great atmosphere for a playoff game. Our crowd was loud and into the match the whole time. St. Thomas played better than they had all season, and they forced us to play great, focused volleyball.
