OLLU community mourns the loss of IFCC founder

Dr-MendelsonRetired Army surgeon, burn expert and philanthropist Janice Mendelson left a remarkable legacy when she passed away at age 93 on June 25.

Dr. Mendelson founded the International Folk Culture Center (IFCC) at Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) in 1990 and donated $2.2 million in 2005 to ensure permanent funding for the IFCC.

“You can’t hate a country whose dances you love,” she told the San Antonio Express-News after donating the largest private gift in OLLU history. “This is my mission for world friendship.” Read full story at www.ollusa.edu.
