The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Friday the list of the soccer and volleyball student-athletes who have been named 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Our Lady of the Lake University’s (OLLU) Kendall Groff was selected from volleyball, while Angel De la Garza, Igor Nunes do Nascimento, Jared Poling and Nickolas Tyrpak were selected from men’s soccer. Women’s soccer selectees were Daniela Colina, Gabriela Colina, Jackie Lambarida, Gabriela Lopez, Maggie Miller, Katherine Murtagh-Huerta and Madison Raines. In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
