The San Antonio Business Group on Health (SABGH), in collaboration with the Mayor’s Fitness Council, recognized OLLU as a Platinum Award recipient as part of its Healthy Workplace Recognition Program. This is the first-ever Platinum Award for the University.
The Healthy Workplace Recognition Program recognizes local employers for their worksite wellness efforts. The group reviews wellness programs using the following criteria:
- Culture
- Health promotion and education
- Physical activity
- Nutrition
- Smoking and tobacco use
- Health benefits and value-based benefit design
OLLU was acknowledged for its wellness program sponsored by the Human Resources Department in collaboration with Personalized Prevention. In previous years, OLLU has received silver and gold recognition awards. Highlights of programming that contributed to OLLU receiving platinum recognition are the annual health and wellness fair, biannual biometric testing and the various educational sessions on stress relief, nutrition, managing finances and other healthy topics. The group noted OLLU’s proactive approach to health for students, faculty and staff.
The SABGH is a membership-based organization of local employers and providers of worksite wellness programs and services. The SABGH aims to improve the health of the San Antonio workforce by providing the business community with opportunities to network, discuss best practices, promote worksite wellness initiatives and recognize local employers for their efforts to improve employee health and wellness.
OLLU’s program is managed and promoted by Diana Ramos, employee benefits and wellness programs manager, with assistance from the entire Human Resources staff.
