The OLLU men’s and women’s track and field teams opened their outdoor schedule this weekend at the Trinity Open sponsored by Trinity University.
Women’s highlights:
In the 200m dash, Samantha Millan (SO/El Paso, Texas) placed 17th with a time of 27.98. Kristen Rodriguez placed 31st with a time of 29.48. In the 400m dash, Shenaya Thomas (JR/Katy, Texas) placed 27th with a time of 1:09.07.
Jazmine Garcia (JR/San Ygnacio, Texas) came in 12th in the 1500m with a time of 5:16.63. Gabriela Guerreo came in sixth in the 5000m with a time of 20:07.40. Bianca Renteria (SR/Del Rio, Texas) finished 10th with a time of 22:15.31, and Aimee Arande came in 12th with a time of 23:43.62.
Millan, Rodriguez, Shenaya Thomas and Emily Lee (JR/Katy, Texas) came in eighth place in the 4x100m Relay with a time of 52.58.
In the long jump, Rodriguez placed 12th with a leap of 4.81m. Thomas came in 19th with a leap of 4.28m.
Men’s highlights:
Adrian Carmona (SO/El Paso, Texas) placed 36th in the 200m dash with a time of 24.14.
Nathaniel Aguilar (SO/El Paso, Texas) came in 31st place in the 1500m with a time of 4:34.29. Jose Lima (FR/Cibolo, Texas) followed with a time of 4:38.99.
Patrick Bousselot (SO/Cibolo, Texas) came in 12th place in the 5000m with a time of 16:42.67. Luis Ramirez (SO/San Antonio, Texas) also ran the 5000m with a time of 17:08.89. Followng Ramirez was Tristen Robles (SO/Palmview, Texas) – 18:00.44 and Justin Ybarra (SO/Harlingen, Texas) – 18:23.72.
In the 110m hurdles, Ricky Ramos (SO/Laredo, Texas) placed 10th with a time of 16.28. Clayton Townsend (FR/Schertz, Texas) came in 14th at 17.67.
Ramos ran the 400m hurldes in 57.21. Rene Perez (FR/Laredo, Texas)’s time was 1:02.54, and Townsend’s time was 1:05.00.
Nathaniel Aguilar ran the 3000m steeplechase in 10:24.04 for first place. Anthony Gonzalez (JR/El Paso, Texas) came in fifth with a time of 11:02.93.
Running the 4x100m relay were Ramos, Perez, Townsend and Carmona, and their time was 45.72. In the 4x400m relay, Ramos, Derek Barnett (JR/Redlands, Calif.), Perez and Lima came in eighth with a time of 3:34.54.
The Saints’ next meet will be on March 11 at the Islander Open hosted by Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi.
