Three members of the track team participated in the Victor Lopez Classic hosted by Rice University on Saturday. Jennifer Ramirez, Ricky Ramos and Miki Romain participated in hurdle events. Head Coach Stephen Sherman said, “It is important that if we are going to go to these types of meets that we perform. I was pleased with how the three that we brought competed and placed. I believe slowly but surely OLLU Track and Field is getting noticed.” Ricky Ramos participated in the 400m hurdles. His time was 55.43. He placed ninth out of 17 hurdlers beating those from Sam Houston State, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Tulane, Northeastern, Lamar, Rice and Huston-Tillotson. Jennifer Ramirez competed in the 100m hurdles and had a time of 14.67. She defeated hurdlers from Western Michigan, Rice, McNeese State, Northeastern, Towson, Texas Southern, Lamar, Grambling, Houston Baptist, Houston and Huston-Tillotson. She came in 14th among 44 participants. Miki Romain placed 24th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.17. Ramirez also participated in the 400m hurdles. She placed 12th with a time of 1:03.78 beating hurdlers from McNeese State, Tulane, Southern, Western Michigan, Texas Southern, Northeastern, Grambling, Rice, Lamar, Houston Baptist and Huston-Tillotson.
