Basketball senior forward Jessika Montalvo stood in front of a scrum of fellow classmates, facing a camera while fielding one question after another following the Saints’ 77-69 victory over LSU-Shreveport on Feb. 24. The students were there for firsthand experience covering basketball games as part of OLLU’s inaugural “Sports Media Writing” class, taught by Ken Rodriguez, a long-time sports writer and columnist, who previously worked at the San Antonio Express-News and Miami Herald. The class is offered as a dual credit for kinesiology and journalism majors.
