The softball team fought a valiant fight as the fourth seed to reach the final day of the 2017 Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Championships Tournament. The Saints took the game against the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) to extra innings after tying the game at one in the second inning. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Jaguars prevailed with a walk-off home run to win the game and advance to the championship game against LSU-Alexandria (LSUA). The Generals scored two runs in the first inning – and no other runs went on the scoreboard to give them their third straight title. The Saints had the second-best tournament record at 3-2 behind LSUA at 3-0. Both UHV and Langston University won and lost two, while the University of the Southwest and Huston-Tillotson University lost two. The Saints end the season with an overall 25-22 record. Kristina Tiffany and Taylor Doege were named to the All-Tournament Team.
