When students return in the fall they will experience new and improved cafeteria services. Chartwells, OLLU’s new food service provider, will be kicking off more than $3.5 million in improvements and introducing some exciting features including a dining app that will allow students, faculty and staff to order food from a smart phone.
Improvements coming this fall:
- New grilling station and Latin-themed food area in Sister Annie B. Cafeteria
- Dining app featuring:
- On-the-go ordering from your smart phone with food pick up in the cafeteria
- Weekly menu postings
- Nutrition information
- Expanded campus market where the C-Store is currently located – featuring grocery items that students can prepare in their kitchens in the new residence hall
- Teaching kitchen for nutrition and cooking demonstrations
- Community involvement – participation in the Food Recovery Network which fights food waste and helps feed people in need
As announced in last week’s Lake Weekly, the new food plan rates are as follows:
- Plan A – $1,900 + tax (per semester)
- Plan B – $1,800 + tax (per semester)
- Plan C – $1,300 + tax (per semester)
- This meal plan is available for International Students, Bexar County residents and residents of the new residence hall only
- Plan D – $500 + tax (per semester)
- This meal plan is available for commuter students only
As the transition to Chartwells management takes place in the next few weeks, more information will be made available about summer cafeteria hours and construction.
