OLLU receives grant to assist victims of crimes

OLLU has been awarded the Victim Assistance: College Campus Initiative Grant, funded by the Office of the Governor. The $101,539 grant provides resources on OLLU campuses to increase and enhance awareness of readily available, confidential, no-cost services for victims. This project will allow OLLU to employ a full-time, Spanish-speaking Confidential Victim Assistant (CVA) to serve any OLLU student in San Antonio, Houston and Rio Grande Valley. The CVA will offer consultation and education to all OLLU students, faculty and staff who aim to empower crime victims, dispel distrust or misunderstanding of law enforcement to increase reporting of crimes and increase knowledge of how to properly support relatives and/or friends who are past or present victims of crime.

With the news of possible upcoming changes to Title IX guidelines, the OLLU administration remains dedicated to maintaining a safe campus environment for the entire OLLU community on all campuses. The addition of the College Campus Initiative Grant is one resource in helping to keep that commitment.
