Get into the Christmas spirit with annual OLLU traditions

The OLLU community is invited to begin the Christmas season by participating in some annual OLLU traditions.

Events include:

  • Tree Decorating and Lighting
    Tuesday, Nov. 28
    12 p.m. – Tree decorating
    5:30 p.m. – Tree lighting and blessing
    The OLLU community is invited to join in the decorating of the OLLU Christmas tree beginning at 12 p.m. in the Mall Area. Ornaments will be provided and participants will be able to write a special message on the ornaments prior to hanging them on the tree. Hot chocolate and cookies will be available. The official lighting of the tree will take place at 5:30 p.m. and will include a special blessing and caroling led by the MUSI 2331 Listening to Music class, the University Choir, and the OLLU Band, under the direction of Dr. Elizabeth Dyer.
  • Las Posadas
    Friday, Dec. 1
    6 p.m.
    The community is invited to participate in a prayer service and re-enactment of the journey of Mary and Joseph searching for lodging in Bethlehem. The procession will begin at Annunciation Chapel and will conclude with a reception in Chapel Auditorium.
  • Candlelight
    Saturday, Dec. 2
    5:30 p.m. – Dinner in Chapel Auditorium
    7 p.m. – Advent Prayer Service
    8:15 p.m. – Caroling in Moye Rotunda
    8:30 p.m. – Dance in Chapel Auditorium
