Women’s track and field break several school records at Tiger Invite

The OLLU women’s track and field team participated in the Trinity Tiger Invite sponsored by Trinity University. In addition, Miki Romain took part in the Texas Relays sponsored by the University of Texas at Austin.

Head Coach Stephen Sherman said, “It was a great weekend for the women. Miki Romain qualified for the NAIA National Championship Meet in the 100m hurdles at the Texas Relays on Friday, and then Alexis Oaks qualified in the 100m at Trinity on Saturday. Overall, all our women who competed showed very well this weekend. It was as about a complete performance as we’ve ever had having success in distance, sprints, jumps and relays. I’m very proud of our group.”

Alexis Oaks, who completed her first year on the Saints women’s basketball team, competed in her first meet as part of the track and field team. She set school records in the 100m and 200m. In addition, the women’s 4x400m relay (Amanda EsparzaAndrea GandaraVictoria De La CruzMaricela Castro) also set a school record. Read full story here.
