Scholarship created for soccer’s Hailey Garcia Reyes

Former OLLU soccer student-athlete Hailey Garcia Reyes passed away on May 28, 2018, at the age of 23. The family hosted a celebration of life for Reyes and her father, Michael Garcia, who passed away on May 12, 2018. (Hailey and her father were involved in a terrible tragedy on May 12.)  The service took place at Community Bible Church in San Antonio.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Hailey Garcia Reyes Memorial Scholarship at Our Lady of the Lake University. The community is able to give through this link:

Reyes played on the Saints women’s soccer team for three seasons in 2012, 2013 and 2014 as a midfielder. She attended OLLU from 2012 through 2015 and received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology/pre-counseling in December 2015. Reyes minored in social welfare and social justice.

While at OLLU, Reyes was recognized as a Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Scholar Athlete in 2012, 2013 and 2014. She was a member of the Saints team that won the RRAC regular season and tournament titles in 2013 and 2014. The team went on to nationals both years.
