OLLU to conduct emergency preparedness drill this week
OLLU will be conducting a campus-wide active shooter drill this week on the San Antonio campus. Drills are designed to help the community know how to respond in the event of an emergency.
During the drill, students, faculty and staff will be asked to shelter in place as if a real emergency were taking place. Doors with swipe-card access will be locked and messages will be broadcast through office phones, speakers and via text messages and emails.
Prior to the drill, a message will go out indicating that a test is about to take place. During the drill, actual emergency messages will be used to simulate a real emergency. The emergency messages will be repeated multiple times. The OLLU Marketing and Communications Office also will communicate through official OLLU social media channels.
There are signs in classrooms that provide information about what to do in various emergency situations. During the drill, hall monitors will be observing student, faculty and staff responses to provide feedback for future emergency drills.
