OLLU to host screening of ‘Walk on the River’ this week

The OLLU Provost Diversity and Inclusion Council and book club is hosting a screening of the film “Walk on the River: A Black History of the Alamo City,” Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., in Providence Hall, Blue Room.

The film documents both the history and contributions African Americans have made to the fabric of San Antonio from Emancipation to the Civil Rights movement. This film chronicles the path of freed blacks who established communities, churches and schools in the 1800s to thriving black-owned businesses that flourished during the Jim Crow era.

A Q&A session with the producer and director will follow the screening of the film.

The screening is free and open to the public.
