OLLU’s Leshore earns Field Athlete of the Week, while Zarate wins Track Athlete of the Week

Jose Zarate (SO/San Antonio, Texas) of OLLU earned selection as the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for March 11-17, while OLLU’s Quintianna LeShore (SR/Indianapolis, Ind.) was named RRAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for the same dates. RSVP for ‘Becoming Coztototl’ with Carolina Hinojosa-Cisneros

The Center for Women in Church and Society is hosting “Becoming Coztototl” a poetry chapbook release by Carolina Hinojosa-Cisneros, on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in Providence Hall, West Social Room.

Hinojosa-Cisneros is a Tejana, Chicana, poeta, mujerista. Her work has appeared in “Sojourners,” “Christianity Today,” “On Being,” “The Rumpus,” and more. She recently received the 2019 Ruben Alves Award in Theopoetics. She is a graduate student in the MA/MFA program at OLLU.

OLLU participating in the ‘Big Give’ on March 28

On March 28, San Antonio will come together for 24 hours of giving to nonprofits during “The Big Give.” This is the chance to join thousands of people as they support their favorite nonprofit organizations.

Last year, the OLLU community raised $40,384 for student scholarships.

The OLLU community is invited to join in the fun as the Development Office will be hosting a Big Give Pep Rally on March 28, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Mall Area. There will be free treats available while supplies last. Everyone who donates at least $10 will be entered into a drawing from a new television.

Human Resources hosting ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions with Credit Human

OLLU has partnered with Credit Human Federal Credit Union to host two “Lunch and Learn” sessions for members of the OLLU community to learn more about Credit Human and the importance of financial health.

Both sessions will take place on March 29, in Providence Hall, Blue Room. The first session will be in Spanish at 11 a.m. The second session will be in English and will take place at 12 p.m.

Those interested in becoming Credit Human members at this event will need a valid ID at time of enrollment. If the ID does not have a current address, proof of address will be required (e.g. utility bill, phone bill, insurance card).

Lunch will be provided.

Staff Advisory Council holding open meeting on Wednesday

The Staff Advisory Council will be holding an open meeting on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Providence Hall, Blue Room. During the open meeting, committees will discuss current and upcoming projects. Attendees also will have an opportunity to meet their representatives and provide feedback.

Staff Advisory Council hosting ‘Bubballusa’ social on April 11

The Staff Advisory Council is hosting the third annual “Bubballusa” social on Thursday, April 11, from 5-6:30 p.m. in St. Ann’s Courtyard. This Fiesta-themed staff social was named to honor OLLU staff member Robert “Bubba” Davis, who passed away in 2017.

T-shirts have been created for the event and are available for purchase. Prices are as follows:

  • 3XL – $14
  • 4XL -$16
  • 5XL – $18
  • 6XL – $20

Shirts can be ordered by completing the order form and returning it to Ann Margaret Cervantes in the Business Office, or by visiting the Business Office. Cash and credit card payments will be accepted. Orders and payments must be turned in by Wednesday.
