OLLU welcomes Provost Dr. Lourdes Alvarez

Today marks the first day on campus for Dr. Lourdes María Alvarez, OLLU’s new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Dr. Alvarez comes to OLLU with 26 years of experience in various faculty and administrative positions. Most recently, Dr. Alvarez served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of New Haven, where she was involved in academic program and facility development, recruiting and fundraising. While there, Dr. Alvarez was instrumental in promoting diversity and inclusion.

Before becoming Dean at the University of New Haven, Dr. Alvarez was a professor, chair and program director for 10 years at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She has also been a Fulbright Senior Research Scholar in Rabat, Morocco, and began her career as a member of the faculty at Bard College in New York.
