2019 OLLU Founders Week events

OLLU Founders week is the week of Nov. 3-7, 2019. Founders Week celebrates the heritage of OLLU’s founders, the Sisters of Divine Providence. The week features a series of events for the OLLU community to attend. Events include:

Procession to CDP Cemetery
Sunday, Nov. 3 – 7 p.m. – Liturgy will be held in Sacred Heart Chapel, followed by a procession to the CDP Cemetery to honor the souls of the departed sisters.

CDP Stories: Answering the Call
Who are the CDPs and why they said yes

  • Monday, Nov. 4, 1-1:30 p.m., Main Building, Room 311 B
    Sister Ann Petrus, PhD, CDP – Sister Ann Petrus has been a Sister of Divine Providence for 56 years and is happy to note that she has spent most of those years at OLLU as a math professor and currently as a math tutor. In her CDP Stories session, she will introduce several Sisters who have left extraordinary legacies of faith and goodness.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1-1:30 p.m., Main Building, Room 311 B
    Sister Margit Nagy, PhD, CDP – Born in Budapest, Hungary, Sister Margit Maria Nagy came to San Antonio as a child war refugee and learned English from the Sisters of Divine Providence, the community she joined at age 13. While teaching mainly U.S. History in Texas junior and senior high schools, Sister Nagy “discovered” Asia and earn a Master of Arts degree in East Asian Studies and a PhD in Japanese and Chinese History from the University of Washington. During her years at OLLU, she has served as Center for Women in Church and Society co-founder and co-director, Kliesen International Center Director and is currently professor and program head of history.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1-1:30 p.m., Main Building, Room 311 B
    Sister Jane Ann Slater, PhD, CDP – Sister Jane Ann Slater has been a Sister of Divine Providence for more than 60 years. She is an educator by profession, having taught in elementary and high school, as well as at the university level. She served as OLLU’s President from 2013-2015. She is currently serving as the Chancellor of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, a position she has held since August 2015.

Thursday, Nov. 7, 2-3:30 p.m., Regan Community Room, Convent
