Lena Wilson Lena Wilson etched her name in OLLU women’s basketball history this season. She is ranked fifth in OLLU history in career field goals made with 346. She also ranks fourth with 227 free throws made and fourth in free throw percentage at .828. She ranks third in all-time scoring with 1,372 points, and this year, she became a member of the Saints 1,000-Point Club.

Wilson said, “While senior year ended unexpectedly, it will never change the fact that as an OLLU student-athlete, I was able to accomplish so much with the help of coaches, friends and family over the past four years. It is bittersweet but also a blessing to be able to say my basketball career has ended with breaking records, making school history and leaving my individual mark as a college player. Basketball is more than just a game; it is a lifestyle. Even though the ball stopped bouncing, this game will be a part of my life forever. I am a firm believer that no man can question God’s timing. For all seniors, it is a time to take the success and life lessons we gained from our sport and carry it over into our future.”

OLLU Senior Spotlight: Matt Mihalov

Matt Mihalov brought experience and a leadership mentality to the Saints baseball team this season. He received his undergraduate degree last season and is in his first year as a graduate student at OLLU. Mihalov was hitting an impressive .315 at the plate before the season ended abruptly. He tallied 23 hits in 25 games, which is second best on the team. His consistent approach at the plate resulted in a .398 on-base percentage this season. When asked about the sudden end to the season, Mihalov said, “I would tell my teammates to never take this game for granted because you never know when it will end. It’s nothing but adversity and we’ll know how to overcome this situation.”

OLLU Senior Spotlight: Pablo Cavazos

Pablo Cavazos was fortunate enough to compete in three track and field events before the season ended. He started the indoor track and field season at the UCO Invitational in Norman, Okla., on Jan. 18. He finished in 19th place in the 200m with a time of 24.15. Cavazos also participated in the 60m and placed 36th with a time of 7.60.

Cavazos summarized the season by saying, “Although our senior season was cut short, the time and experiences we’ve had with our teammates at OLLU will stay with us forever.”

OLLU Senior Spotlight: Jamia Miller

Jamia Miller made a lasting impact on women’s basketball in just two years. This season alone, Miller scored double-digit points in 18 games. She broke her career scoring record with 26 points against Texas College in a convincing 121-48 victory. Miller shot 58.3 percent from the field and 60 percent from the three-point line. She helped lead the Saints to be first in the NAIA in scoring offense per game, scoring margin, turnover margin, field goal percentage, total scoring offense and total rebounding offense this season. She was named to the All-Conference Second Team this season.

Miller reflected on the season saying, “This season didn’t end the way I wanted, but basketball has taught me a lot. It taught me that good things must come to an end, to stay headstrong in what I believe and to do whatever it takes to find a solution to any problem I might face. I’m looking forward to what life has in store for me, and I’m blessed God allowed me to be part of such an amazing team and get a degree.” After graduation, she plans to work with her father’s best friend who is a financial adviser. Miller’s hobbies include watching YouTube, shopping, eating and sleeping. Her athletic role model is NBA Los Angeles Laker LeBron James.
