OLLU to kick off United Way Employee Charitable Campaign on Oct. 19
OLLU will launch the 2020 United Way Employee Charitable Campaign on Monday, Oct. 19. President Diane Melby, EDd, and United Way Campaign representatives Greg Smith and Sharon Minor will kick off the campaign at 12:30 p.m. with a 30-minute, WebEx presentation.

The campaign launch will include a literacy kit service project led by the Center for Service-Learning and Volunteerism in Chapel Auditorium. Volunteers will build 200 literacy kits for Pre-K and elementary-aged students in Bexar County. The kits will benefit children served by Urban Strategies, an agency served by United Way’s Successful Students impact area.
The campaign ends Friday, Nov. 20. To mark the celebration of OLLU’s 125th Anniversary, the school will give away prizes to those who attend the launch virtually and in person.
A weekly drawing of eight prizes will be held every Friday for those who donate $25 or more. A list of OLLU United Way Ambassadors will be sent next week to answer questions, along with the link to the United Way giving portal.

Volunteers who wish to participate in the literacy kit service project will need to wear a mask, apply hand sanitizer and sign up for one of two shifts — from 12-1 p.m. or 1:30-2:30 p.m. All students, faculty and staff are invited to participate.
