Patrick Torres is interim head coach for cross-country/track and field

OLLU has announced the hiring of Patrick Torres as Interim Head Coach for Cross-Country and Track and Field.

“We are really excited to see the energy, enthusiasm and genuine humility and character that Patrick will bring to the program,” Athletic Director Shane Hurley said. “As an alumnus, he impressed us as a former athlete and student with his preparedness and drive. He has a very thoughtful approach that I believe will be supportive and encouraging for all of the athletes in the program.”

Torres was part of the Saints’ cross-country team in 2016 and the track and field team in 2016 and 2017.

His awards as part of the track and field team include All-Conference in the 5k and 10k in 2016; the 10k in 2017; and the 3k, 5k and 10k in 2018. He was a Scholar-Athlete in 2017 and 2018. As part of the cross-country team, Torres received All-Conference honors in 2016 and was a Scholar-Athlete in 2016.

“I’m so excited to join the coaching staff at OLLU,” Torres commented. “I’m grateful to Shane Hurley, our athletic director, for giving me the opportunity. Both cross-country and track have a history of success to build on and a legacy that I’m excited to add to.”

Torres received his Bachelor of Psychology in May of 2018 and is currently working on his Master of Fine Arts at Texas State University.
