Economics graduate accepted into master’s program at Texas A&M

Javier Miguel Segura

Javier Miguel Segura (BA 2021) will attend Texas A&M to pursue a Master of Public Service and Administration with a concentration in analytical methods.

A San Antonio native and a McNair Scholar at OLLU, Segura aspires to use graduate studies to serve his hometown.

“After I earn my master’s,” he said, “I hope to work in my community in San Antonio — whether in economic development or in city governance.”

An economics major, Segura said the community and relationships he forged at OLLU prepared him for graduate school.

“I would not have been able to absorb information and learn as well as I did at OLLU had it not been for the caring professors and small class sizes that created an intimate setting for knowledge to prosper,” he said. “The tight-knit community of OLLU allowed me to gain close relationships with faculty that guided me as I applied to graduate programs. The McNair Scholars program was also an integral component of my foundation in graduate-level studies.”
