Applications open for United Way’s Women United Childcare Scholarship
The United Way’s Women United Childcare Scholarship Program is accepting applications for spring 2022. The scholarship pays a portion of childcare costs. It supports parents who are seeking a degree or job training by providing access to affordable childcare, which enables parents and children to further their education.
OLLU senior Angelica M. Vasquez, a social work major in her final semester, is the recipient of the scholarship for fall 2021.
Applicants must be enrolled in college full-time or part-time, pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. Or they must be enrolled in a job-training program.
Other requirements include:
- Maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Providing referral agent all class and/or work schedules when available and must keep referral agent informed of changes in contact information, employment and school status
- Having a demonstrated financial need
- Completing FAFSA application
- Not currently enrolled in a Child Care Services subsidized child care program
- Having a demonstrated plan for reaching their educational and employment goals
- Being e a citizen or legal resident of the United States and a resident of Bexar County
- Being screened by a referral agent and selection committee
