Alumnus (‘16) wins Lone Star Emmy Award

KENS-5 editor Thomas Sanborn (BA 2016) and the KENS-5 team have won a 2021 Lone Star Emmy Award for “Best Newscast — Evening — Medium Markets.” Sanborn, son of OLLU English Professor Wallis “Trip” Sanborn, was one of two editors on a 10-member KENS-5 team that won for the broadcast, “Airport Attack.”

Sanborn’s Emmy adds to the university’s impressive total. OLLU alumni and students have now won 38 regional Emmy Awards, one national Emmy and one Peabody Award. As a Mass Communication student in 2015, Sanborn was nominated for a Lone Star Emmy for the story, “A Professor’s Journey.”
