Basketball alumnus Michael Hagan-Daniel passed away June 26

OLLU alumnus and former Saints basketball player Michael Hagan Daniel passed away on June 26 in Duplin County in North Carolina near Fort Bragg.

Hagan-Daniel was a member of the Saints basketball team for three seasons from 2014-2017 and played in 52 games. He was part of the team that made it to the NAIA National Tournament twice, first in 2015-2016, when the Saints made it to the Round of 16. The team went to nationals the following year in 2016-2017 and finished in the Round of Eight. As a guard, Hagan-Daniel scored 304 points and recorded 152 rebounds, 41 assists, 17 steals and 26 blocks.

He graduated from OLLU in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Later that year, Hagan-Daniel enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as an infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Division prior to attending Psychological Operations Assessment and Selection and the Psychological Operations Qualification Course, which he completed earlier in June of 2022.

Hagan-Daniel was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group (Airborne) at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School.

Hagan-Daniel was originally from Boulder, Colo., but called San Antonio his home. Before OLLU, he attended the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio and Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. He is survived by his wife and son.
