Three men’s tennis members competed at Roadrunner Invitational
The men’s tennis team sent three players to battle in the Jauer Roadrunner Invitational hosted by The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Michael Canales, Enzo Frequelin and Murilo Salviato competed in singles and doubles matches from Sept. 23-25.
The Saints won two singles matches, while dropping four; they won one doubles match while losing four.
Programs in the tournament included UTSA, University of Texas, Texas Tech University, Oklahoma State University, Baylor University, University of Miami, Southern Methodist University, Rice University, Abilene Christian University, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, University of the Incarnate Word and Oral Roberts University.
Head Coach Dave Watts said, “This invitational was a great experience for our players. They were able to see some of the top NCAA D1 teams in the nation. These tough matches are great building blocks for the team. I was particularly proud of Murilo Salviato who competed very well but came up short losing in the third set against a tough opponent from UTRGV.”

Murilo Salviato (W1/L1): defeated N. Dominguez – 7-5/6-3; lost to C. Lawrance – 3-6/6-2/4-6
Michael Canales (W0/L1): lost to A. Salazar – 2-6/4-6
Enzo Frequelin/Murilo Salviato (W0/L2): lost to N. DeLuna/M. Kermet – 2-6; lost to A. Brewer/K. Leuenberger – 3-6
Michael Canales/Agustin Salazar (UTRGV) (W1/L2): lost to G. Skelly/A. Keene – 2-6; lost to B. McDonald/E. Scribner – 5-7; defeated G. Pinho/E. Brewer – 6-4
The Saints compete at the ITA Tournament in New Orleans from Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
