OLLU alumnus and post-doctoral fellow will be on campus Friday

Dr. Ramiro Ramirez, an OLLU graduate and a current UT Health post-doctoral fellow, will visit campus Friday to talk to students about his research and to answer questions about conducting research at a major research center.

Dr. Ramirez’s presentation will take place Friday beginning at 12:30 p.m. in Metz Hall, Room 305. His research is presentation is titled, “A Kidney Cancer Transcriptome Molecular Signature Identifies Tumors with Tumor Thrombus.”

Dr. Ramirez is a SABER/IRACDA Research Fellow/Teaching Scholar in the Department of Urology

At UT Health. He was the first student to graduate from OLLU’s Biomathematics program. He went on to earn a PhD from Texas Tech University before returning to San Antonio to pursue research.

Dr. Ramirez’s research mixes biomedical science, biostatistics and bioinformatics to provide a very unique avenue for attacking biomedical problems and solutions.
