Saints jump to No. 6 in the 2023 NAIA Men’s Outdoor Track and Field ranking

The men’s track and field program jumped from No. 15 to No. 6 in the 2023 NAIA Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Rating Index – Week 2 according to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Saints debuted last week in the top 25 for the first time in program history.

Southeastern University, remained the top-ranked team, followed by the University of British Columbia, The Master’s University, Westmont University and Marian University.

The Saints recently competed at the Texas Relays at the University of Texas and the Bobcat Invitational at Texas State University. During the Texas Relays, Jose Zarate broke the OLLU record in the 10000m with a time of 31:52.84. Jalen Bell set the OLLU record, plus qualified for the NAIA Nationals with a National A Standard in the 100m with a time of 10.41. The 4x400m relay team also broke the OLLU record, qualified for nationals with a National A standard time of 3:14.30. At the Bobcat Invitational, the 4x100m relay team broke the OLLU record with a time of 40.61. Julian Verastegui broke the OLLU record in the 400m with a time of 48.09.
