Saints ends season with loss in RRAC Tournament
The baseball team fell to LSU-Alexandria (LSUA) in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Championships to end the 2023 season. The Saints finish with a 30-20 overall record and 20-9 mark in conference play.
Head Coach Matt Piker said, “This was obviously a tough way to end the season. In reality there is only going to be one team that ends the year the way they want to. The result today is in no way an indictment of what this group accomplished. Thank you to the senior class for everything they accomplished. They did a great job laying a foundation that we can build on. There is a lot of things to be proud of this year and I’m looking forward to next year. Hats off to the 2022-2023 Saints.”
The Saints were 18-9 against the Mustangs prior to the series.
The Saints struggled in a 10-0 loss to the Generals on Sunday. The Generals totaled 13 hits, including two home runs and four doubles. Caimyn Holiday, Jacob Montejano, Jackson Kalisky and Christian Martinez were responsible for the Saints hits. Christopher Perez started on the mound and suffered the loss after allowing three earned runs in 2.1 innings pitched. Chase Dunn, Pablo Montante, Devin Benavides and Matthew Sanchez all pitched in relief. The Generals run-ruled the Saints in seven innings.
