A school-record 196 Saints earn Scholar-Athlete recognition
A school-record 196 OLLU student-athletes earned Scholar-Athlete honors in 2022-2023 with a 3.0 grade point average or higher, the most of any school in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC).
OLLU, however, narrowly missed capturing its third consecutive Barnes & Noble College GPA Award. The Saints recorded an overall 3.212 GPA, while the University of the Southwest marked a 3.22 to be the top RRAC program in academic performance for 2022-2023.
A RRAC member since 2008, OLLU led the RRAC with 172 student-athletes, adding 12 who played two sports and 12 who were on non-RRAC sanctioned cheer and dance teams for a total of 196 student-athletes earning a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Athletic Director Shane Hurley commented, “We are very proud of the academic success of our student-athletes. They continue to break records and establish new standards for success academically and athletically. Our coaches recruit academically, so they too share this honor.”
The RRAC GPA Award is presented annually to the athletic program with the best cumulative GPA among all its student-athletes in the most recent academic year. The award encompasses all conference sports and any NAIA-certified student-athletes during the 2022-2023 season.
